Our Devotion for today Tuesday March 14th, is taken from: Amazing Grace Devotions for Lent by Michael Hoy.

3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you. 4 Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you, I give people in return for you, nations in exchange for your life.

Isaiah 43:3-4 NRSV

God’s promising word sounds like an eternal marriage vow: “You are precious, you are honored, and I love you.” These words speak to the heart and soul, and let the recipients hear and trust that they are chosen in love. God will not let anything harm or destroy his chosen ones. Even if they have to walk through raging rivers or burning fires, God will be with them always and is willing to pay any price for them, because God values them so, beyond all measure.

Faith is what grasps the promise of being God’s chosen in love. Through faith, you have the promised grace in Christ that you are treasured and chosen as God’s own redeemed child. Christ’s love will go the way of the cross for you. God will be there with you throughout life and will see you beyond the hour of death through his resurrection. Nothing will separate you from God’s love.

I invite you to re-read Michael’s reflection, basking in the knowledge that God has chosen to be in relationship with you.

Lord, thank you for choosing us in love. Give us the faith to trust in you always, for you will never let us go. Amen.
