LASTING WORDS OF GRACE

Our Devotion for Tuesday, April 4, 2023, is taken from: Amazing Grace Devotions for Lent by Michael Hoy.

31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Mark 13:31 NIV

LASTING WORDS OF GRACE

After Jesus tells of the coming times when darkness will seem to cover over and conquer all things, he gives us encouragement and hope. His words, namely the Good News, will not pass away. As the living Word, he will experience the fullness of the darkness on the cross. But death will not be the last word – not for him, and not for us.

The ordeals and trials we go through in life are sometimes too numerous to mention. They may weigh heavily on our hearts and minds and spirits. Yet the one light that continues to shine in the midst of all that darkness is the light of Christ and the promise of his grace and hope. We are, therefore, children of the light and of the day, holding on to a future that will not be taken from us. And if some, even among persecutors, should notice that indomitable spirit in us, it’s all the more evidence that Good News is lighting the way – for us and for all.

Friends,

I invite you to re-read Michael’s reflection and ask yourself: How will I let the light of the Good News lead me to share grace and hope with someone today?

-Pastor Anthony

Prayer

Lord, give us the solid foundation of your Word of grace as the light over all darkness. Amen.
