The Advent prayer for Monday, December 5, 2002, comes to us from: Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Daily Prayers for Advent by Stephenie Hovland

19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, obedient to his spoken word.
Psalm 103:19-20NRSV
Friends,
The author of Psalm 103:1-5 invites us to reflect upon the goodness of God and remember the benefits of relationship with God:
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits—3 who forgives all your
iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns
you with steadfast love and mercy, 5 who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Luke 4:9-12 NRSV
The psalmist urges us to appreciate the gift of forgiveness, to offer compassion for those who are ill, and to extend love and mercy. During this Advent Season let our hearts be full of love and mercy, freely offered to all who cross our paths.

Advent Prayer – Day 9
Heavenly Father, your angels obey your every command and carry out your will. We praise you for their creation, for their work in our lives. We ask you to also remind us of our duty to obedience, our need for confession, and the promise of your forgiveness through your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
