Prayer Quilt for Marge Johnston

Marge is enduring a very serious health challenge, and the caring ministry wants her to know she is being lifted in prayer. The prayer quilt can be found on a table in the lobby, outside the church office. Come by, tie a knot in the fringe threads, and lift a prayer for Marge. The quilt will be presented to Marge, so she might

warm her body and her heart.

UMW General Meeting - Saturday, Dec. 4 at 10:00am

The next general meeting for the United Methodist Women is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4 at 10:00am in the sanctuary. We also plan to livestream the meeting, via the church's FaceBook, page for those women who wish to attend virtually. Simply access the church’s Facebook page, just like you would to "attend" the Sunday worship service. The program is "Christmas Carol History," with Jackie Brown playing the piano. If you are attending in person, masks are required. NO FOOD WILL BE SERVED.

Words of Life Bible Study

The Tuesday Night Women’s Bible Study has resumed. Each Tuesday evening, at 7pm, we gather for one hour of reflection, conversation, fellowship, support, and exploration. The group will meet in-person at the church, although circumstances could change, requiring we shift to a Zoom meeting. We will be studying The Sermon on the Mount, using the Life Guide Bible Study booklet by John Stout. This impactful sermon of Jesus’ covers all aspects of our modern lives: our relationships, values, ambitions, and commitment to God. Please consider joining. There is no time like now to start a new venture. Contact Barbara Walker if you are interested, she does have some books that she purchased in bulk.

Open, Safe Discussion On Racial Injustice

A year ago several of us from Farmington First and several from other churches such as Hope United Methodist Church, Birmingham Methodist and Scott Memorial UMC, decided to meet to discuss topics related to racism. We want to invite any of you that are interested in joining us. We meet on the 4th Friday of the month at 4pm by Zoom. If you’re interested in joining the conversation, or want more information, contact Bev King at 248-330-8859. All are welcome!

Outreach Opportunities

The Outreach Committee has made and delivered over 300 sandwiches to the NOAH lunch program; worked with the Livingston County Habitat for Humanity to build an accessible bathroom for a handicapped veteran; volunteered with the Oakland County Habitat for Humanity on their "Rock the Block" project; and held a canned food for the Farmington Salvation Army. We are a fun group, doing great things to serve others. Here are our upcoming activities:

  1. Giving Tree We are planning to support a Giving Tree for seniors and disadvantaged youth. Again this year, the gift sign-up will be online.

  2. Bell Ringing We will be looking for volunteers to ring bells for the Salvation Army. Please look for details about these events in the coming days.

Important Updates from Christian Education

As many of you may be aware, we are currently without a Sunday School Superintendent. Until the position is filled, the following changes have been made to provide for any children who attend service.

BIRTH THROUGH PRESCHOOL - The nursery is open and available during the worship service.

ELEMENTARY (K-5) - There are Christian-based children's books and activity bags for children to use during the service while remaining with their parents during worship. These are located next to the display case before you enter the sanctuary. If children need a break, they can go to the children's library (second floor) but must be accompanied by a parent.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8) - Classes will be held the second Sunday of every month with confirmation class following at 11:30. Students will remain in the sanctuary for the other three Sundays.

HIGH SCHOOL - Students remain in the sanctuary for worship. Guiding Force meets with Pastor Bea occurs most Sundays after the church service. This typically involves sharing a meal somewhere in the community, discussing Christian-based topics and engaging in various mission projects.

If you have questions or might be interested in the Sunday School Superintendent's position please contact Pastor Bea, Director of Christian Education at: or Amy Mohr, Chair of the Education Committee at:
