The Advent prayer for Wednesday, December 21, 2002, comes to us from: Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Daily Prayers for Advent by Stephenie Hovland
10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 15:10 NIV
Our cited verse comes from the parable of the Lost Coin, one of three parables Jesus uses to communicate the depths God will undertake to redeem us. The woman in the parable stops everything she was doing to find the lost coin. Nothing was more important than locating that which was lost. In like fashion, seeking to reconnect with those who are lost is God’s priority. As people of faith, God ask us to prioritize connecting and engaging with those who have doubts and questions about God. May we align our hearts and actions to prioritize building bridges to connect people with God.
Advent Prayer – Day 25
O Lord, you rejoice with the angels when we repent and turn back to you. Let us also celebrate with our friends who have come back into your saving grace. Help us to never take for granted the faith community around us. Remind us to support and love each other, encouraging one another in the faith. And, like the angels, help us find joy in our fellow believers. Amen.
