The Advent prayer for Saturday, December 17, 2002, comes to us from: Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Daily Prayers for Advent by Stephenie Hovland

36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
Mark 8:36 NIV
Friends,
Today’s verse calls us to evaluate our priorities. As people of faith, we consistently have to evaluate what takes precedence in our lives: God’s purpose, or our plans? At times God’s purpose and our plans align, offering us increased focus and a depth of satisfaction that is exhilarating. Other times, our plans seem to be in conflict with what God would have us do. I invite you to pause each day, consciously committing to pursue God’s purpose and to be a blessing.

Advent Prayer – Day 21
O Lord, during this time of Advent, of preparation, we sometimes feel we have misplaced something. In our busyness to be ready for family and celebration, we may put down our Bibles and forget to pick them up again. We may put aside our devotional or prayer time because we’re just too busy. Forgive us, Lord. We repent. Help us remember our priorities – your priorities. Amen.
