TWENTY-SECOND DAY OF ADVENT

The Advent prayer for Sunday, December 18, 2002, comes to us from: Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Daily Prayers for Advent by Stephenie Hovland

17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.

Psalm 34:17-19 NIV

Friends,

From time to time, we have all been brokenhearted. Whether it was the passing of a loved one, a relationship/marriage that ended, or a friend whose actions proved them disloyal. Heart break is something we all must navigate, lest we find ourselves captive to our pain. How can we overcome the heartache and pain? As people of faith, God grants us the wisdom to seek help, hope and healing through prayer and therapy. May we all take time to do the internal healing work needed to mend our broken hearts.

Advent Prayer – Day 22

Dear God, when we are in trouble, where do we go? Do we search the streets for something we cannot find? Do we search our hearts for something only you can give us? When we are in distress, remind us to pray – to pray hard – because you always hear our prayers and deliver us from all troubles. Amen.
