Holy Saturday - SUNDAY'S COMING is written by Ed Arle

Now there was a man named Joseph ... he took [the body] down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut in stone ...

Luke 23:50, 53

In some ways, it feels as if Good Friday was only a dream. The cross is still there. I can see it in my mind's eye. But Jesus is gone. We all know what it's like when a loved one dies; people gather to weep and console one another. Then, after the casket is closed, you move on. But how do you move on when the person who has died is Jesus, the one you thought would change the world, maybe bring back the sinless innocence of Eden again?

Today is called Holy Saturday. The word holy, as you may remmber, means "special, unique, set apart." I can certainly imagine how this Saturday was special in the minds of the disciples. Now, because of what I know, it's special to me too. Something else is special today. In the words of a pastor I know: "Don't forget: Sunday's coming."

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that Sunday's coming. Amen.
