Scriptures
7 Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow. 8 If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit. 9 So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:7-9
23 But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."
Matthew 13:23 NRSV
Author's Thoughts
As a first-grade teacher, I have a deep commitment to teach children about God and God’s word. Often, I am inspired by the students’ enthusiasm when I hear them express their thoughts on what they have learned about God. I love to see their reactions and listen to their exchanges after I share a Bible story with them. However, after praying with them each morning, I think about what might happen to them in the future. Will they forget what they have learned? Will they be able to apply these lessons later in life?
Today’s scriptures from Galatians and Matthew give me hope that the children have indeed understood these lessons about God, and that in time, the seeds that were planted in their lives will produce a good harvest. I remain grateful that God has called me to plant seeds of faith in these young souls. I trust God will feed and nurture their minds and spirits in ways that will lead to abundant life.
Thought for the Day
God will provide the seeds for the Sower.
Author's Prayer
Good and everlasting God, help us to draw on your strength to plant good seeds. Inspire us to keep the faith as we wait for the seeds to bear fruit. Amen.
