Week 3 - GUIDED to PEACE

Thursday, the third week of Lent - WITH YOU ALWAYS is written by Ed Arle

For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's

Romans 14:8

I remember sitting at the bedsisde of an 80-year-old man who was about to go in for major surgery. His 60-year-old son was by his side, holding his hands. When the father saw the tears in his son's eyes, he said, "Don't worry. If I die, I'll be with Jesus, and if I live, he'll be with me."

I've thought of that man's words over the years, expecially in times when I've been in the hospital waiting to hear the nurse come to say it's my turn to meet the doctor. On each of those occasions, I have thought of what that father told his son, "If I die, I'll be with Jesus, and if I live, he'll be with me." Well, I'm still here. An every time I look at the cross I think, "So is Jesus."

Lord Jesus, as you died for me, help me to live always for you. Amen.
