Friday, the fourth week of Lent - FROM DEATH TO LIFE is written by Ed Arle

... we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered .... over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.

Matthew 20:16-19

It is said that when asked what he would do if he knew the world was about to end, Martin Luther replied that he would plant a tree. Now I can't say that would be my answer. But if a doctor told me I would die soon. I would ask for more information: "How long do I have? Is there nothing to be done?"

Now consider this: Jesus knew he was going to die. And yet, he didn't obsess about what little time he had left. He continued to go about his Father's business; teaching, healing, and loving people into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus did tell his disciples what he would go through, how he would suffer and die. But then he added one more thing; "On the third day, I will rise again." And that's the best part: Because Jesus did rise again, we will too.

Dear Lord, help me remember that you are the Resurrection and the Life. For me. Amen.
