Week 5 - GUIDED to PEACE

Friday, the fifth week of Lent - THROUGH CHRIST is written by Ed Arle

I can do all things through him who stregthens me.

Philippians 4:13

St. Paul says, "I can do all things through him who stregthens me" (emphasis mine). Now I know Pauls' not talking about just anything and everything. My brother is very handy at carpentry. I hardly know how to hammer a nail. Yet I believe that through Christ Jesus whatever you attempt to do for the sake of Jesus can and does give glory to God. Paul says, "...whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).

During finals week in college one time I asked a friend if he was ready for the big test. He answered, "No, but I plan to pray a lot." St. Augutine has his own take on the subject: "Pray as if everything depends on God; then work as if everything depends on you." Now, because of Jesus, I may not always hit the nail on the head, but I can keep swinging for Jesus' sake.

Dear God, whatever abilities I may have, help me to use them all to glorify you. Amen.
